While Nitin calls himself a “Data Scientist by accident”, he is a strong believer and practitioner of using advanced analytics as a strategic differentiator across domains and has a proven track record of creating impact by solving key business problems with astute analytical problem solving. Nitin heads the Analytics solutions and delivery for the Group DNA cell of Aditya Birla Group. This cell drives impact through analytics across the diverse business lines of the group. The team are working to provide cutting edge analytical solutions across the variety of B2B and B2C businesses. Prior to ABG, Nitin was leading the Data Science at Walmart Labs where he was responsible for the team that delivered scaled data science driven products for Walmart stores and infused smarter decisions across retail lifecycle like site selection, assortment optimization, pricing, demand forecasting, supply chain, store ops and enterprise wide decisions. These solutions were able to deliver multi-billion $ impact.
Before that he has held various key positions in MNCs like Citigroup, HSBC, FICO and GE across multiple roles. He was responsible for setting up and managing analytics groups in the areas of insurance analytics, consumer finance and retail credit risk management and gathered functional expertise across marketing and risk analytics. He has been focused on continuous learning and professional development for self and the teams he has led.
He completed his B. Stat and M. Stat degrees from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Calcutta in 2000 and has almost two decades of extensive experience in the field of predictive analytics and data science projects. He is also an active speaker and panellist at leading data science conferences.
