Dinesh Kumar is leading the Transport Research Wing, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, in association with Road Safety, Motor Vehicle Licensing, Transport, NHAI, etc. My work also involves identifying Black Spots (on National Highways) and Data Auditing of the eDAR application, including publications such as Road Accident in India, Basic Road Statistics, Road Transport Yearbook and Review of Performance of State Road Transport Undertaking. I am also discharging the duties of the Chief Data Officer, MoRTH, GoI. As the CDO, I have always tried to lead the team, fostering innovation, identifying data gaps, and breaking down silos by leveraging tools and techniques in analytics with the purpose of turning data assets into actionable analytical assets. I also share the responsibility of the National Data Focal Point, GoI, to coordinate with the World Health Organization on the 5th Global Status Report on Road Safety.
Dinesh has 25+ years of experience in the Government of India in various capacities with different roles and responsibilities, such as analytics, technical, administrative, and managerial assignments across the Ministries of the Government of India, such as the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, the Union Public Service Commission, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
