Abhishek Upperwal is the Founder and CEO of Soket AI, a research-driven AI company, supported by the IndiaAI mission, building foundation large language models. He holds a Master’s in Computational Data Science from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, specializing in High-Performance Computing, Distributed Systems, and Large-Scale Model Training. With an expertise in CUDA optimizations, MPI, and graph algorithms, he architected Pragna-1B, a 1.25 billion parameter foundation model built from scratch for Hindi, English, Gujarati, and Bengali, featuring one of the most efficient Indic tokenizers within a budget of USD 100k. He is also the Principal Investigator of Project EKA, a series of foundation models with advanced math, code, logic, reasoning, and multilingual capabilities to serve both critical sectors like national security, cyber security, banking & finance, legal, as well as the IT/ITES sector and developer community. Abhishek is passionate about advancing the frontiers of technology. He has since put his vision to action at Soket AI with a commitment to build effective AI systems, emphasizing ethical, open-source, and energy-efficient development for inclusive, context-aware AI.
