Tushar Vashisht, Co-founder & CEO, Healthify (previously HealthifyMe) is a University of Pennsylvania graduate. He started his career as an investment banker on Wall Street and in the Bay Area before moving to Singapore with Deutsche Bank. Tushar also worked in Nandan Nilekani’s Unique ID project for nearly two years.
Stirred by high levels of poverty-driven malnutrition in the country, Tushar conducted a ‘Rs.100 a day’ experiment for a month. During the experiment, he realized the lack of a nutritional information database for Indian foods and went on to create an exhaustive list with the National Institute of Nutrition. This was the stepping-stone to his entrepreneurial journey and Healthify was created in 2012 to help users track their daily food and workout routines in their quest for a healthy lifestyle.
Healthify today is India’s largest health & fitness app with over 40 million users. What makes them unique is their ability to bring together the power of AI along with human empathy to deliver measurable impact to their customers’ health. Their digital assistant Ria offers users personalized recommendations around diet and workouts, and is one of the rare AI successes in the Indian consumer internet domain.
