When a new product is launched, we traditionally follow the framework of POPI (Phase-Out-Phase-In) and in the process carry a lot of attributes of the previous life cycle to the new life cycle. It’s quite similar to the thought experiment "Ship of Theseus", we have adapted and evolved over time along with technology, algorithms and first hand principle of demand and supply matching. In this new dawn, Generative AI is certainly transforming the landscape of the supply chain and delivering a new era of high efficiency and optimization. This cutting edge technology is transforming multiple other industries and the supply chain is no exception. The question lies, how the journey of AI to Gen AI will embrace all new possibilities and mitigate challenges without compromising ethical considerations, security and policies. While it does have limitations, generative AI presents a multiplier in what humans and technology can achieve together in building efficient and resilient supply chains whether in planning, sourcing, making, or moving.
